What is a Trojan Horse?

In today's computer world, a Trojan horse is a malicious, security-breaking program usually disguised as a screen saver, a game, etc. Trojans are executable programs.

Trojan Horses are far worse than viruses or worms because they can affect the integrity of the complete network. They are also very hard to detect and can be utilised to steal information and security passwords and can even be used remotely to control an individual machine or even an entire network! They are notoriously difficult to detect and remove and if they reach the server/administrator level in a network a total rebuild may be necessary as restoring from backup may simply re-infect.
